Pike's Peak is NOT the highest point in the continental U.S. nor in Colorado.
It is 31st out of 54 mountains in the state that are over 14,000 feet, the highest being
Mt. Elbert at 14,433 feet.
Temperture: 30F cooler that it's base at Manitou Springs.
Named After: General Zebulon Pike, who first saw what he call the "Great Peak" in
November of 1806.
